Grounding.

I spent the day at my friend’s house in the countryside. I text her in Ireland to say that I had arrived to make sure everything was ok at her home. I sent her greetings from myself and Goaty McGoatFace who along with the other goat had once again escaped to the forbidden side of the fence.

My support worker drove me over. We sat in the garden and had coffee and chatted for an hour. We watched three pheasants frolicking in the next field whilst Rooks and crows swooped overhead. I felt my nervous system relax and breathe in the calm.

After my support worker left, and the goat man ushered the goats back to their own side, I settled in to practicing music for a couple of hours. I started out on guitar. Initially I got distracted. I can see that my friend hasn’t touched her husband guitars since he died. I rooted through the kitchen and found a clean soft microfibre cloth. I gently began to wipe away the dust from the guitar. All the while her husband looking out at me from a photo on the desk. I feel honoured to play his guitars and handle them with great respect. I enjoyed practicing scales and running through a few songs. My arm got tired and so I went back to garden for a rest.

My Alter Katie decided to take some photos which is her passion.

We returned back inside and I practiced piano before my other choir buddy turned up. We headed out for lunch. We returned back the house to sit in the conservatory and chill for a while before heading home.

I took the opportunity whilst there to plant my bare feet in the earth, connect with the energies and try and ground myself to a more centred space. It’s like a mini reset in myself when I visit there.

I’m back home now, curled up in my pyjamas cuddling my cat and listening to wind howl outside. I hope I can hold onto the grounding for a while.
