Fireworks!

Yep I hate fireworks. I managed to make my choir performance at the fireworks display this evening.

Due to local Road closures and where we were parking my choir buddy picked me up at 2.45pm. We popped to the pub first. I had a cheeky half pint of cider to steady the old nerves.

We assembled on stage at 5.20pm. As the event opened at 5pm we were a bit concerned that there wouldn’t be much of a crowd, but we had a decent audience. We performed six songs in total. Our new Christmas song was the third song and despite only running it twice at rehearsals we did really well. After the third song my flank pain was starting to flare quite severely. I had stupidly managed to end up at the front of the stage. I started to get anxious about the level of pain and trying to managing the swaying and clapping. I reached out for assistance from alters. Thankfully with them coming forward and managing the pain we made it through the next three songs.

It really helped that our final song was a mash up of Free by ultra Nate and Gypsy Woman by Crystal waters. We performed this track throughout the summer and I absolutely love it. It’s a real crowd pleaser too. Such a high note to end on…excuse the pun!

Once we finished our set I limped off to the bar where we all had a free hot chocolate. That was welcomed as it was quite cold on stage.

I know my friend wanted to stay and see the fireworks so I agreed to stay too. Thankfully I had taken my loop earplugs plus my new much improved ear defenders. Double protection! I really don’t like fireworks. They are loud and distressing and I’ve never understood why people love them so much. As soon as the countdown started I inserted my loops and positioned my ear defenders. It really made a different to the horrendous noise. It’s not just the noise that distressed me though, it’s the vibrations too. Still we got through it.

I’m glad to be back home and in my pyjamas cuddling the cat, who I saw on my camera had been hiding in the wardrobe since 6pm due to fireworks on my estate.

It’s been a long and exhausting day, I’m in so much pain and I’m ready for bed!
