Social interaction.

I was invited to a coffee afternoon by the animal rescue centre I’ve visited a few times with my volunteering buddy.

It’s the first time I’ve had physical social interaction since I saw my support worker on Monday. There was no choir on Tuesday due to half term, and no volunteer sessions this week. I have gone out for a short gentle walk every day but managed not to speak to anyone on those walks. The only interactions I had on my walks was with random cats around the estate!

I have appreciated the rest this week. Well in between the builders working eight hours a day from 8am and other noisy neighbours!

As I navigate various symptoms I’ve needed the downtime. Next week is a little more busy. After having a chat with my friend today she has instructed me not to come to volunteering on Thursday. I would have pushed myself if I hadn’t spoken to her. I have a choir performance at the cricket ground fireworks display and I don’t have enough spoons to do volunteering in the morning and a performance in the evening. The evening event will take a lot out of me.

I feel relieved to have made a decision not to volunteer that morning. I don’t want to let anybody down but I don’t want to make myself feel more unwell. It is frustrating that I don’t feel well enough to do everything.

I appreciate the afternoon I had though. I got to meet the other volunteers who up until now have just been names in a WhatsApp group. We had a cat based quiz, my team and I came last! We shared stories of the cats that have recently found their forever homes, and swapped pictures of the new kittens that have arrived at the rescue. The meeting was held in a cozy village pub and I enjoyed my pint of cider.

My friend gifted me an ornamental black cat with light up eyes and I fell in love with it immediately. I have placed on the tv unit amongst Rockets photos and favourite toys.

I off now to have a long soak in the bath and practice my choir songs. Hopefully I’ll drown out the Halloween fireworks with my singing!

As the veil thins tonight I will keep an eye out for Rocket in case he travels across the rainbow bride to pay us a visit.

Merry meet, merry part, merry meet again ❤️‍🩹

Blessed be

Phoenix.
