Gratitude to Water

The sun is high

Hot hot hot.

Stuck in traffic,

Our journey extended by an hour.

Sweating in a full body swimming costume.

Am I allergic to the sun?

My forehead is already blistering!

Torn between going home,

Or pressing on.

Sunlight is good,

Blisters are not!

Damn whatever this is,

Going on in my body.

Out in the midday sun.

The golden sand under bare feet.

The sea before me,

It’s been a long time.

Since I felt that connection,

With the earth.

Stepping into the water.

The beautiful healing water.

Thinking of how our bodies,

Are made of water.

That water has memory.

There’s no adverse reaction,

Between my broken skin,

And the saltiness of the sea.

Just connection.

My water molecules,

Moving with the sea.

Despite the heat,

The waves are numerous.

The rush of the next wave,

The water flowing back.

The reminder of the ebb and flow of life,

The push and pull.

I meditate as the water surrounds me,

Asking the water to help me,

Let go of the fear of illness,

Let go of the recent threats against me,

To protect me,

In stepping into my own flow,

The power of my own molecules.

I give gratitude to the water,

That held me yesterday.
