Thursday night…phew

Why phew? Because there’s no commitments for the next two days! Possibly three days if I don’t sing with choir on Sunday.

I hadn’t let myself step into the exhaustion of yesterday’s Dermatology appointment as I had to go to volunteering this morning.

I don’t normally count the minutes until home time when I volunteer. This morning dragged on. It didn’t start well. I had to pick the milk up from the local shop for this mornings session. As soon as I turned the corner towards the shop I spotted my evicted neighbours parents sitting in their car outside the shop. I entered the shop cautiously in case he was inside. Once I’d made my purchases I slowly exited. They were still parked in the lay-by and both glaring at me. I had arranged for my volunteering buddy to pick me up outside the shop. I was determined that they wouldn’t intimidate me from waiting.

I had taken my kashaka shakers with me. I like to practice them whilst listening to choir songs and waiting for my lift. Every so often I’d glance down the road and could see they were still staring at me. I felt my Alter Mark moving towards the front. My spine straightening, standing taller, both kashakas spinning faster in each hand my foot tapping to the Bee Gees track. Just before my buddy arrived they drove past me slowly eyeing me as they drove away. Mark didn’t stand down until we were off the estate. It was a stark reminder that the threat is still present.

Once home I tried to play guitar but the fatigue had fully hit and so I went to bed for a couple of hours

The steroid cream hasn’t made an impact yet. I guess I can’t expect miracles after one dose. My broken skin is still hot and itchy and making me grumpy. The boil isn’t helping matters.

The photo I have posted tonight is of a giant sunflower growing in the garden of the place I volunteered at today. It is truly spectacular and brought me a slice of joy. Still finding happiness in the little things.
